My Favorite Book(s)
If I had to pick one or a couple one off the top of my head that I will always remember is "The Origin of Species" by Charles Darwin. Second would maybe be "Surely You're Joking Mr. Feynman!" by Richard Feynman.
A few others are "Godel, Escher, Bach : An Eternal Golden Braid" by Douglas Hofstader, "A Briefer History of Time" by Stephen Hawking, and finally "Black Holes and Baby Universes and Other Essays" by Stephen Hawking.

Re: My Favorite Book(s)
Books
Some books I would recommend are:
The Harry Potter Series (as if all of you haven’t read it yet )
A Thief of Always (Clive Barker)
Galilee (Clive Barker)
The Lord of the Rings
A Midsummer Night’s Dream
Romeo and Juliet
Sacrament (Clive Barker)
(If you’re into gruesome stuff, then) Books of Blood 1, 2, 3 (Clive Barker)
The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe
Surely you must be joking Mr. Feynman! (yeah Allen, I love that one too)
Obviously Clive Barker is my favorite author.
I'll remember more & write them soon.

Re: My Favorite Book(s)
I don't know, but I do know that in general a lot of 'teenagers' probably wouldn't list that as one of their favorite books.
btw: I thought romeo and juliet was good. . . I even read it upside down once for the fun of it.

Re: My Favorite Book(s)
I read it backwards, it was funny.
William Shakespeare is my (new) favorite author.
Plus I HATE the teen section in the library. I never go there. It's so shallow, nothing but sex, money, and "fashion." I like more meaningful books.

Re: My Favorite Book(s)
The Foundation books by Isaac Asimov were good.
My all time favorite books would probably have to be The Hitchhikers Guide to The Galaxy books.

I read that recently... They seemed to get better and better, then all of a sudden get confusing and bad. I'll have to re-read it; maybe I missed something.

Re: My Favorite Book(s)
Shakespeare was a sadistic pervert who couldn't make good stories so he substituted made up words to make his plays sound better but instead end up confusing people and fuck up the english language. That's what I think of Shakespeare

Re: My Favorite Book(s)
Shakespeare is the best writer ever! And you know it!!
First of all, poetry requires you to get a little creative.
And everyone spoke and wrote like that then. We don’t anymore, but that was common then.
Shakespeare was asked to perform for the queen of England hundreds of times, and was even asked by King James to write the entire bible in Shakespearian language. (hey, let’s face it, if you got your own language, your pretty damn good )
If you read enough Shakespeare, you’ll learn his language, you'll get the story right away, without any explination. I’ve read Romeo and Juliet like 1000 times, so now I get it the first time, not the 20th time.
How exactly is he a pervert? I don’t remember any “bad stuff” in his books.
He’s not sadistic; he’s just good at writing tragedies. Do you think tragedy novels are sadistic?
PS. Most of your words are his “fucked up language”
Generally, in poetry (especially in other countries) people make up words and shorten others to make the poetry more pleasant. Poetry is emotional, not logical.
Even if you take Shakespeare logically, it’s still pretty interesting. The way Juliet talks, saying that she probably shouldn’t have been to eager to say yes to Romeo, because Romeo would think she’s just desperate, but she swears she’ll prove more worthy of his love than those who play hard to get. I don’t know, I find it to be perfect in every way, not “sadistic.”

On a side note, I have no difficulty understanding him but his plays progress too slowly for my tastes.

Re: My Favorite Book(s)
Yea Paul I know but apparently the people in my English class have trouble with it.
I seem to remember that Juliets caretaker said something like "when you are older you will learn to fall on your back for a man."

Was that in the part where its Juliet, her Nurse, and her mother?
'cause that’s where I looked for it, and all searches resulted in failure.

And I'm pretty sure he didn't exactly say it so clearly
Yes, that is the scene
and the scene at the window, it's something like romeo is asking juliet to show her breasts to him, or something. . . anyways. . .

If you guys have Pettigrew you'll get to see a movie that includes the sex scenes, the guys found the balcony scene interesting as well.
