Image format

What's your favorite image format? Compare the best and worst image types...
Favorite: PNG
Next Favorite: GIF
Medium: BMP
Most Hated: JPEG
On average, I've found that PNG's use about 98% less space than BMP's. Plus, they offer 255 degrees of transparency.
GIF's are nice, because you can animate them.
BMP is just standard, and is very compatible.
JPG's are just plain ugly.
PSD's are nice too, but they can't really be considered an image format in the general sense.
Hex-type raw images are huge.

As far as image quality goes PNG or JPG. (high quality level)
File size and animation goes to GIF.
I hate specialized RAW images, why would you modify an existing format so only 1 program can open it?

Oh, I agree. Raw is ew. But it does have some uses for programming...

I had some code I used quite a while ago that used tiffs for 3d terrain generation as well as saving. . .

That would fall under "Other" it only allows a maximum of 10 options for polls.
